iPhone OS 3.0 Compatibility

Version 1.1 of Reference in Hand is available on the App Store. This version contains fixes as a result of initial testing with the iPhone OS 3.0 Gold Master.

Further testing is in progress, and an additional update will be made if and when other issues are found.

Where do the currency values come from?

Currencies are provided courtesy of the Bank of Canada, and are updated daily on our server.

Currencies provided are neither buy nor sell rates, and are provided for reference purposes only.

I'd like to adjust the currency values by a percentage - how can I do that?

The easiest way to do this is to add a VAT percentage in Settings, which would increase the conversion value by a specific amount. Once the VAT is added, you can simply select it when you select the conversion.

Why is there a caution on Clothing?

Clothing sizes vary (sometimes greatly) between manufacturers, so there is no absolutely precise conversion between sizes. This is even more true with the recent popularity of vanity sizes, where clothing is deliberately labeled at a smaller size than it would more typically be.

How does the Advanced download option work for lists?

The Advanced download option is used to import a Comma Separated File (CSV) into Reference In Hand. Once imported, the list will appear in the "Other Lists" tab.

CSV files can be produced by many popular desktop applications such as Microsoft Excel or Apple Numbers. Basically, a list would be created in one of these applications and then saved as a CSV file, after which the file would be placed on your personal web server (such as MobileMe). Once the file is available on your web server, the URL can simply be supplied to Reference In Hand in the Advanced download screen.

I have a reference list that I've created. Will you host it for me?

If you've created a list that you'd feel would be useful for others, by all means send it to us. As long as it doesn't contain copyrighted information, and if we think it would be generally useful, we'd be happy to add it.

Are you planning on adding other reference lists?

Yes.
